Clean and simple

Morning all. Well I got a good start on tearing our deck down yesterday. It was beautiful out and I had to be outside. This morning I am relaxing with coffee and my silhouette. I made these 2 cards casing a card from qbeesquest.

I printed the paper from my silhouette patterns and then cut out the circles butterflies and flowers. (All Silhouette files). I had some perfect little button brads that matched the colors I used.

Since it is raining I am going to spend my day browsing all your lovely creations on your blogs. Have a safe day!

Thank you Kate

As most of you wonderful people know, I am on a journey of quitting smoking. Today is my 43rd day. A wonderful person and fellow blogger Kate Martin has been one of my strongest supporters and has beautiful creations on her blog. Here are the cards that she has sent me over the ocean to help me continue on my journey. Thank you so much Kate, you will never know how much it means.

I have them taped to the top of my laptop so every time I close it, I see them and remember that there are better things than a cigarette.

I do have a card going back her way but cannot post it yet. Hopefully will get to the post office today to get it out. Mom has to have her pacemaker changed on Thursday so she is resting until then.

Everyone have a blessed and safe day and Thank You for stopping.

Recipe scrapped

Morning all. I had a very busy weekend with hubby trying to get some stuff done outside and did not have time to update or even check the blogs. It is raining here so I have all day!!! I can catch up. I did have a blog saved that I wanted to case because she had a really cool idea. Scrapping her favorite recipes! I had to try it now I think I will be busy because it turned out so cute. Her site is Bugbites411 located at  http://bugbites411.blogspot.com/p/food-fare.html. She has some cool recipes also.

For those of you following my no smoking campaign...Today starts my 42nd day! I made it through the birthday party at the bar Friday where they do allow smoking and actually left early because it was pretty thick. My husband was even proud that I did not like the smell. Thanks again for all your wonderful encouragement and support!

Sweet Friend

Morning all! Awful start to the weekend...rain, rain, rain. They say it is going to clear off but I am not optimistic about that.

Today is my 39th day of my No Smoking campaign. Tonight will probably be my true test as a friend is having a birthday gathering at the local bar. I think I can get through a few minutes. My hubby gave me a luck stone to carry in my pocket to remind me that I can do this. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...lol

This is her card that I made last night. I used the template from Birds Cards, http://www.birdscards.com/card-cover-7-thanks-circle/ to cut the top layer. I added a pale blue ribbon and bow to the bottom. I then added the back piece in blue. I used the sentiment from JustRite Clear Grand Senitments that I received for my birthday earlier and stamped the center on a white circle. I used pop up dots to give it dimension. I added the butterfly that I had cut from my Silhouette and used Glossy accents on it for shine.

Hope you liked my card and have a safe and blessed day.

Hummingbird Stepping Stone

Morning all. I painted this stepping stone for Mom for Mother's day. We will not be here as my brother's surgery is the day after and he lives 7 hours away so we are leaving early to spend some time with him. We have not decided where to put it as she does not want to step on it...lol

Have a great day.

Gift tags

woohoo...I miss counted and have another day to strike off my quit smoking days! Today is my 37th! Thanks again to everyone for the great comments.

I have some gift tags that I made. Pretty simple. I printed and cut with my Silhouette. I added quilling to the fronts and ribbons.

Have a safe and blessed day.

Camera Buddies

Morning all. Starting my 35th day of no smoking and have to say that I think I have it whipped. There seems to be an obstacle a day that makes me want to pick one up and then I remember all the support I have received and don't want to let myself down this time. Yesterday's keeping busy project was these "Camera Buddies". My niece is a photographer and she mentioned them one time so I searched the internet and came up with these.

I found the "Hello Kitty" pattern here from 4Hankins Crochet.

(sc around a hairtie, join, ch 3, 2dc in each sc around, join, finish off) Eye backing (make 2). (ch 2, 6 sc in 1st ch, join, ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, join, fasten off). I had some really big google eyes that I put on but you could just use a button or piece of felt. The nose is a pom pom.

I just dc around the hair tie until full. (2 dc in dc, dc in next) around, join. ch 1, (sc in next 2 dc, 2 sc in next) around, join.
Ears:
(ch1, sc in next 6, turn. ch 1, sc in each sc. turn. ch 1, sc in next 2, sc next 2 together, sc in next 2, turn. ch 1, sc in eac sc., turn. ch 1 sc in next 2 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in next 2, turn. ch 1, sc in each sc, turn. ch 1, sc in first sc, sc next 2sc tog, sc in first sc, turn. ch 1, sc in first sc, sk sc, sc in next sc, turn. ch 1, sc 2 sc together. fasten off. )
Skip 6 stitches and join yarn in next sc making sure you are on the front side. Repeat from ( to ) above. I spot glued the ears down at an angle but they don't have to be.
Tongue: with red: chain 2. 2 sc in second 2, turn. 2 sc in each sc, turn, sc across, turn. sc in next, sc 2 sc tog, sc in next. turn. sc in sc, skip sc, sc in next. turn, sc 2 together. sl st around to make sturdy.

She knows the Elmo and Hello Kitty are on their way but I decided to do the dog last night. Hope you enjoy.

Lighthouse man

Morning all. Feel like I have neglected the blog but it was the first weekend that was pretty enough for us to finish the front landscaping. I painted a lighthouse earlier and then we had to move it to the other side of the porch. So then we decided that we would expand lava rock. I needed to build the platform to place it hide enough to see so I had a brilliant idea to go to the concrete place and look for a small statue. I found him and my hubby bought me the "Bird Lady" statue also that I did not have time for this weekend to paint. She reminds me of Savannah where my son now lives so I had to have her. Here is my little sea captain. I will show it all when I finish painting the landscape leading to the lighthouse!

Heart medicine box

Morning all. Today is day 31 of no smoking. I have tried numerous times in the past to quit but the devil always threw in a stresser that made me pick them back up. This time I am using Chantix and have to say even with a friend passing, my brother's illness and a few other little things, I have stuck it out. My problem: I hate taking any kind of medication. I always forget to take it and then I forget if I did. This time when the problem started I decided to make this box. I put 2 pills in each compartment. I take one in the morning and one at night. This way I can look to see if I did take it and not overdose myself...lol.  I used Lori Whitlock's box in the Silhouette store for the basic box and then added the dividers. It looked a little plain to me so I added the ribbon and quilled flowers. Still looks as if it could use something else. I added a flower as the drawer opener and some gems to the drawer. Hope all is going well for everyone else. I only have one more month of the pills so I am looking forward to that and then I can use this for something in my craft room.

Have a safe day.

Get Well Soon

Morning all. Can not believe that there is snow on the ground! Winter 2014 is never going to leave.

Here is my card for today. I cut the greenery and flower pieces from vellum with my silhouette. I used my embossing tip to curl the flowers and then added the pearls. I placed the ribbon on the bottom and then added the butterflies and gems.

My aussie friend aussie aNNie Hot wings are chicken wings fried in deep fryer and then placed in a sauce made of different seasonings like Franks hot sauce and cheyenne pepper.

Hummingbird

Morning all. Quick post while I still have internet. Raining hard here and high winds so that usually means problems.

I did this with my Silhouette and a file I purchased from them. I then added the Petite Pedals with beads as their center. I added pearls for eyes and gems on the butterflies.I place the topper onto a stamped 4.25 x 5.50 card base.

Today is my hubby's birthday so I have some special cooking to do. Hot wings and pineapple upside down cake. What a combo huh!

Work in progress

Morning all. I am so sore! Yesterday was our first day in the 70's and I decided I wanted to decorate outside. This is my work in progress.

I got the bottom painted and now have to do the windows. on the other pots. I ran out of rock and then realized that when my Siberian gets excited on her run line, this thing will tumble so now I have to move it to the other end of the porch tomorrow. At least it was nice being outside!

Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday.

Butterfly wreath

Good morning. I have to say that quitting smoking definitely gives me time to do my crafts. Today's card is from the Silhouette store. I stamped Good Luck in the center. I think this is the last Graduation card I need this year.

Have a wonderful day.

Lilac card

A little late today. Had a dear friend pass away expectantly yesterday. She was only 65 and had a laugh that will never be forgotten.

I purchased the file from the Silhouette store. It is the Lilac card.

I made the flower pedals and leaves with vellum. I printed the sentiment and inked the edges.

Hope you enjoy. Have a safe evening.

Birthday

Morning all. Just a quick post with the card I made last night. I used a Silhouette file to cut the card. Added a vellum insert, 3 flowers and Happy Birthday sentiment. I inked the edges of the sentiment with silver ink and needle punched the scroll underneath.

Hope you enjoy and have a lovely day.

Teabag

I have to share. With my quitting the smoking, you would think that I am the one that would be edgy. No...my dear hubby is. We went shopping today at a national chain store and it was a little crowded. When we were ready to leave we were greeted by a cashier who told us to go down two lines and it would not be a shorter wait to check out. We did and to our luck a lady was arguing with the cashier over a raincheck she could not issue and it was worth 50 cents. After about 5 minutes, the granddaughter (about 10 years old) starting screaming at the cashier that she does not want to make her cry because she cries really loud. I could tell that he was getting irritated and then just increased it. Finally she started putting her stuff in her cart to leave and realized that she had not paid for her bread. I told the cashier that I wanted to pay for. The lady finally agreed and thanked me. I told her I hoped it made her day better and to enjoy the beautiful weather with her grandchild. As we left my dear sweet hubby said very loudly, "Oh my gosh, she is now screaming at the service desk". I really tried to make her day better but I guess she just wanted her say. Hubby told me he would not go grocery shopping with me on a Saturday ever again!

Okay, now that is over, here is the card I made when I got home. I got my teabag folding paper out and decided on this card. I bought the cute button is a pack of 4 for $1.00. When I was looking for a sentiment I thought of that poor lady at Meijer's day. Too bad I can't send this to her.

Hope everyone has a safe and blessed Sunday!

Quilled purple

Morning all! Yesterday was a really bad day for old Arthur (arthritis). My back was really the worse but on the up side, I did not give in to my old habit of smoking. Today is my starting my 18th day. With only one slip, I feel pretty good with that.

My card is back to my favorite hobby of quilling. Have not added the sentiment as I cannot decide on which to put on it. I will add when I need a quick card.

Thanks for everyone's loving support of my quitting! Your words goes a long way.

Easter Bunny Treat Box

I finally finished my 4 easter bunnies. 3 pictured and one for mom. I made these for a set of male twins and their sister. I think they will enjoy them.

Good news! My brother's test results came back and while they were bad his condition is treatable. I haven't seen him in about 3 years as he lives 2 states away but he is going to be about 4 hours away next week for a second opinion and if we can work out the details, I will get to spend some time with him. Thanks to everyone for your prayers! They do work.

Covered Bridge

Morning all. Still a little down in the back but better. Today is starting my 14th day without smoking! I think I am going to make it.

I made this card using a pre-colored image from Doodle Pantry. I love their images and found this yesterday. I used a watercolored piece of blue cardstock, Black backing piece and then a white for contrast. I printed the Hello from Doodle Pantry also. Added a ribbon and bow then a rhinestone.
